Hey everyone, Joe here.
We have CANCELED THE FAITH & SPIRITUALITY TRIP THAT WAS SET FOR July 24-31, 2020.
Cuba is doing a great job MITIGATING the Covid-19 pandemic.
Cuba has reported 1,947 coronavirus cases and 82 deaths so far (May 26, 2020). Official data shows the Caribbean island registered fewer than 20 new cases per day over the last week compared to the 50 to 60 that were occurring daily in mid-April.
WE THINK THAT MID-DECEMBER TRAVEL PLANNING IS PRUDENT AT THIS DATE: MAY 1, 2020.
You likely have questions about travel right now, so I wanted to reach out personally and keep you in the loop on how we’re thinking about travel to Cuba AFTER this viral outbreak.
We know a lot of folks have questions about the risks of traveling (both to themselves and at-risk people in their communities) and the financial stress of canceling plans. At the same time, for me and for many of us, thinking about vacation is an escape from daily anxieties, and boy there’s a lot of those right now. I’ve heard from so many of you that in times like these, dreaming about future travels is cathartic. It certainly is for me.
While specifics could change—I don’t want to pretend like we can see the future of coronavirus and its impact—for now here’s the approach we’re taking to continue being helpful.
Delta is keeping me abreast of travel to Cuba. All flights are still on. Cuban doctors have been dispatched to Lombardy, Italy, in a gesture of solidarity. The U.S. government could lift its trade embargo --if only temporarily-- to send food, but that's another story....
Thanks, and stay safe. Cuídense, Joe
